Hello, recently i bought Ibanez jem woody as in love with that guitar. So now really wanted to know how low is Vai’s guitar action. And also does he have any issues while using the tremelo bar hitting the volume knob in jem woody as it has not much space to use freely above without hitting it.
I don't own one, but tried a Woody in my local shop. The action was VERY low, too low for me (this of course can be changed). And yes on the bar- I immediately noticed the volume knob was in my way when trying to use the bar. Had I decided to buy the guitar, it would have been a big problem for me. I assume all the JEMs are the same tho. I don't have that issue on my strat, or on my old Charvel from 1989, but the tremolo isn't recessed into the body, and the bar has a higher bend to it.
I guess i have made a big mistake buying this Jem Woody. The volume knobs of other Jems are like fender unlike this one. And moreover for the tremelo bar if i increase the bridge to get rid of that volume knob issue getting knock in middle then strings gets high making it too difficult to shred nor legatos. Am stuck between bridge and high action. Moreover the frets are curved at the tip too low i guess .. whenever i put a small pressure for legato it tends to go off the frets. Damn god knows what i will do with it in future.
