Re: Is the whammy really in the loop?
I always thought it was in the loop.. Purely because in Gravity Storm and Building the Church in particular you can hear the pitch shifting and the continuation of the original note. At first I thought it was Dave, but there were too many guitar sounds simultaneously for that explanation. If you see...

Re: Carvin Legacy VL100
re the master volume, imho its just not needed, anything used in the fx loop with a volume control will do the same thing Ah, I suppose that makes sense. I still may put it back in though so at least I can kill off any hiss/hum between songs with a volume pedal instead of messing with the overall lev...

Re: Carvin Legacy VL100
to the best of my knowledge(memory) yes. the original owner was bucketbot(ian)who is well known on several forums including carvin.if you do a search on that forum you should find the threads he did on having the amp covered and the master volume he fitted(which i also removed, hence the small hole ...

Re: Carvin Legacy VL100
you are dead right. however the amp you just bought was recovered in snakeskin by the original owner which i removed and recovered in black tolex. i never re-covered the back panel but swapped one over from another amp hence the mix up. I've seen the snakeskin one pop up a few times! boy this has g...

Re: Carvin Legacy VL100
That's the one. I don't know, I'm a little confused. The back has the standard attenuation/speaker/loop/power etc etc and the normal ventilation grill SEALED like this one : http://www.metalguitarist.org/forum/attachments/amps-gear-sale-trade-wanted/1340d1269802705-carvin-legacy-vl100-hd-2.jpg" oncl...

power supplies..?
I was just wondering... I have a pedaltrain pro and run it with 1spot daisy chains, (which are awesome) but wanted a tank instead so I can mount it and hide the wires, and this thought popped into my head.. Pedalpower Mondo's are like, £300, which is completely absurd for a power supply, and I'd nee...

Re: Carvin Legacy VL100
hi, the clean channel does take pedals well but im not a fan of distortion pedals full stop unless its as a boost for the od channel. re price and the amp on ebay, the amp on ebay is one of my old amps. ive owned 7 legacys and normally pay £350-£450. wow that's a lot of legacies! I must ask, why go...

Re: Carvin Legacy VL100
Also, what's the right price to pay for one? Theres one up on eBay now. Its been shifted around a bit and has appeared a couple of times, and now the dude is trying to sell it for £500 even though the guy he got it from had it at less than £400....

Re: Carvin Legacy VL100
This still isn't answering my questions... does the Legacy take distortion well through the clean channel or not?

Re: Carvin Legacy VL100
i can name 2 people that use a carvin legacy lit and steve vai i can name 20000 people that use rectos And all of them sound exactly the same. Post grunge, mainstream, limp bizkit quality unit shifters. Besides, the legacy is a signature amp. That's like saying an AFD100 is no good because only Sla...

Rectifiers suck. Although my alternative to a Legacy might be a Studio .22 preamp..Jeries wrote:dual rectifier

Re: Carvin Legacy VL100
So I'm seriously about to pull the trigger on one of these.. but I'm hesitating since I have never played one and all the youtube videos are awful. 9/10 I use a distortion pedal (usually a satchurator) through the clean channel for my leads. Does the amp handle this well or not? I fear that it'll so...

For the Love of God Universe
I was just watching a bunch of live videos and couldn't get over how awesome that UV looks and sounds! But I cant find anything on it! Where did it come from and why is it all messed up? And why is it called For the Love of God? did he record using that or something?

Steve's lead tone
how would I go about getting a similar lead tone to steve? and when I say tone, I don't really mean tone. I guess I mean overall sound more than tone. (go figure) I can tell that theres usually a very light chorus or something on his tone, yet Im having no success finding a chorus that shallow and l...
