Re: Stillness in Motion - Vai Live in L.A
Did anybody else notice Whispering a Prayer isn't from the same show? There's no lipstick cam on Flo III's headstock, not to mention Steve's hair is noticeably longer! Such a great angle that I can understand why!

Re: Stillness in Motion - Vai Live in L.A
Amazingly, I was able to go to town on Tuesday and buy the DVD and CD FROM A shop!!!!! Loving the concert - it's a great set. I wasn't able to attend the tour that time round so I love having a window into what it was. Initially, i wasn't impressed with some of the pixelation at the start but I did...

Re: Stillness in Motion - Vai Live in L.A
I ended up listening to the audio first yesterday as I got the auto rip files from amazon whilst my CDs and DVDs were still in the post. It's great to get another full concert release especially as I didn't make it to a show on this tour. I'm part way through DVD 1 now and it is good and seems to b...

Stillness in Motion - Vai Live in L.A
I got my copy yesterday in the mail and was wondering what everybody else thought about the new DVD! There's not really a lot of bad you can say about it, its a fantastic release. The music is on point, the stage show is entertaining, by far Vai's best tour yet! The Space Between the Notes is also a...

Re: typical Vai licks
I also noticed he sometimes likes to use the same tapping lick that moves into triplets (i.e Donnington, Letterman, 97' G3 record) but cant quite make it out.. anybody got any notes for it?

Re: typical Vai licks
He sweeps this arpeggio a lot: https://ksgb-public.sharepoint.com/Documents/Vai%20arpeggio.jpg It wont let me see! Is it an Eadd9 by any chance? Its fairly obvious that he loves his 9ths a lot. I've seen a fair few ones on the internet 'in the style of', and the only one I've seen him actually use ...

Re: Carvin Legacy VL100
that's simple: Turn the volume up! The Legacy does need some volume but it's an amazing amp. Don't try to play it at bedroom level. No point. If you do though, turn the amp volume up and use a volume pedal in the FX loop (acts like a master volume) and bring the volume down. Hope that helps I do th...

typical Vai licks
I'm sure we're all guilty of having a few licks that we revert to and modify when we improvise, I know I do! Anybody who doesn't is lying! I've managed to pick up a fair few Vai inflections, and was wondering if anybody else had noticed any typical Vai fills that he uses a lot, especially tapping an...

Re: What is wrong with my amp?
so regardless of what you do the amp stays on the clean channel? i would say there is a problem with either the channel change switch or the footswitch jack on the back. the other problem is perfectly normal. when on standby voltage is only applied the the heaters for the valves, there is no ht volt...

What is wrong with my amp?
I just powered up my Legacy and the Dirty channel doesn't work, by which I mean neither the footswitch or button change over to the dirty channel. Also, I've found recently that when I take my amp off standby after letting it warm up a few minutes, the signal is very quiet and crackles loudly when I...

Re: Carvin Legacy VL100
so the second head's EQ is rendered completely obsolete? that would explain the weird settings. So where do the 3's come into it then? surely it must be the same situation but with different model heads right? so does that mean there's 4 feeds from the pedals in the loop? yes thats right, none of th...

Re: Carvin Legacy VL100
thats great, glad you like the amp. imho the only downside of these amps is they dont play hi gain chords to well due to the high bass content.i always overcame this by backing of the volume pot on my guitar to get a cleaner crisper rhythm tone. nearly everyone ive seen sets there amps up like this ...

Re: power supplies..?
I've brushed up a bit on my power supply knowledge, and I didn't realise the cheap one I mentioned was essentially a daisy chain in a box instead of individual outputs. Also, many people I've spoken to have said the Voodoolabs are pretty noisy at high volume due to their transformers picking up a lo...

Re: Carvin Legacy VL100
It arrived last night, and I've just got a chance to play it! WHAT AN AMPLIFIER. I've never had an amp that sounds great no matter how you set it. I've only had chance to run straight into the amp with no effects, but the lead channel is awesome! People are right, its not instant Vai but it can get ...
