Steve Vai’s String Theories bassist Bryan Beller has recently released his second solo album, Thanks In Advance, and an accompanying special-edition DVD To Nothing. As he describes it, “it’s a 60-minute intense jazz/rock compositional statement about breaking through anger and finding gratitude. Special guests include Mike Keneally,Joe Travers and Scheila Gonzalez (Zappa Plays Zappa), drummer Marco Minnemann, and String Theories bandmate Ann Marie Calhoun, to name a few!

Steve Vai’s String Theories violinist Alex DePue has recently teamed up with Mexican guitar master Miguel De Hoyos and released a new album Underground Whispers. The self-produced session features the two duetting on the varied repertoire. It ranges from originals including DePue’s on “TJ” and De Hoyos’ “Cortijo” with covers of rock, Latin and pop tunes including a medley from “Phantom of the Opera” to a the rock anthem “Stairway to Heaven.” The album is available now through iTunes.
