Guitar Cleaning

I've heard of some prty weird ways people clean there guitars.

I usually just loosen the strings and wipe it down with some cloth.
What do you guys do?

rubbing alchohol works great......just put some on a cloth, and rub off the grime from the strings........

makes em squeaky clean.........

makes a package of strings last way longer, rather than changing them when they get nasty feeling.....just clean em with rubbing alcohol.

It wont makes em greasy, or oily slick like some other cleaners do.......

for the body and neck, ill use lemon oil.

what about for the fret board? i havn't yet found a good way to clean my fret board.

lemon oil for the fretboard........

lemon oil makes a old dry fretboard nice and moist again. Actually, lemon oil is a pretty common ingrediant in alot of wood polishes, but for the fretboard, i like to use 100% pure concentrated lemon oil.

makes the fretboard look like new again. You can find it at almost any local grocery store in the cleaner section for about $5 a bottle.

Those are my main 2 cleaners.......lemon oil, and rubbing alcohol. LOL

Actually, lemon oil is a pretty common ingrediant in alot of wood polishes,

But never,and I repeat,never use wood polishes and other super market furniture crap for guitar cleaning

i buy once every year for like $25 this dunlop kit...
it comes with fretboard cleaner and finishing polish guitar spray guitar lotion lookin stuff and string cleaner.. it comes with 2 clothes and a fret cleaning peice of paper thingy

its great and lasts for about a year or 2... and i have 20 guitars

i wouldnt suggest using alcohol on a guitar at all...even on the strings (it might rub off on the fretboard)

What I do is #1, use special auto wax on them, sometimes this teflon type wax for the bodies

and #2 since they are all rosewood, its a good idea to use lemon oil on the fretboard at least once a year.

especially when it's had a few coats and you're trying to play and the frets keep moving and slurring notes.

I use dunlop lemon oil and cleaning spray...work fine for me.

I use Manson's Fingerboard Lemon Oil (the Manson brother's are superb hand makers of acoustic and electric guitars here in the UK) and Fender's (Meguiars) guitar cleaning kit. Meguiars make cleaning products for Ferrari's and other super cars and it actually polishes out light scratches without abrasives-brilliant stuff. I also use 'Steret Pre-Injection' alcohol swabs to clean the strings of grease etc etc. It makes them squeaky clean and like new (you can buy the swabs from chemists)

i would never use alcohol on my guitar.....only on the strings.
