Any good tube driven preamps out there?

The name says it all! Discuss Steve's studios, your studios and gear set-ups, amps and effects here. This is not for discussing guitars (Steve's or otherwise).

Hey Guys,
I hate to keep bugging you guys about buying new gear but Im seriously in need of a good tone because "tone is everything". I have recently been looking into rocktron preamps, especially the GAINIAC 2. Mostly because its cheap and looks effective. I dont have anywhere near the money to buy a good amp (i.e. Bogner Ecstasy) but need to get serious because im trying to start a band (progressive metal) and need to sound good. Anyone have any experience with a rocktron product including the GAINIAC or GAINIAC 2. any info would help including with some sound clips. Ive tried the rocktron website but I want to hear someone else play through it. any reply would really help. Thanks for your time.

:roll: if you can get your hands on one, (your best bet would be Ebay!) try out the Mesa Boogie "V Twin" Pre-amp!

I am sure that is all you will need! 8)
