Due to fears of being sued. Looks like the mpa and music industry will have its way, and dodgy tabs will enter the internet black market.

I sense some sarcasm there. Sure they need money but c'mon! Oh no now Hetfield is getting a million dollar house instead of a 2 million dollar house boo hoo. Its like that south park episode

First off, don't blame the artist exclusivly, okay? Keep in mind that the Music Industry acts as a whole, and usually the higher ups are the ones trying to make the most money, artists don't make jack off album sales, and it's usually all about live shows, from the tickets and merch and such, and they have to license tablature books usually...so it's all part of it.

Now I agree that it's ridiculous to go after the tabbing communities, but it's not any better to sit around and swear like theres no tomorrow about it and do nothing...if you want to have your opinion mean something, take it seriously and write to the people bringing forward the mess, be smart. And by writing a letter to them, I do not mean dropping the "F" bomb every other word, profanity totally eliminates a majority of the sincerity of your point. etc.

If you want to make a difference and keep your tabs, then be vocal about it, be mature, you can whine and moan about it all you want, but they arn't listening to you on Steve Vai's message board, take it to them, of course you could also argue they don't care what you think. Maybe not you, but get other people involved as well.

I read about this a couple of weeks ago on the BBC website. They mentioned Warners as the main culprit behind this. Dont know how true this is,but It was only a matter of time though.

The worst thing is, "official" tabs are often littered with errors, and Vais tab books are no exception to this.

What next? we can't whistle a tune outside our own house in case somebody else picks up the melody for free?

Utterly ridiculous!

If it is a score I really really really want then I buy it.
But in the later years I dont play so much cover songs so I dont
have a need for TAB or whatever. I think it could be nice to download
TAB-pdf files and pay for them, just as a mp3 song. Then you could
download and pay just for the one song you wanted to learn and play.

It is not that bad, for many years it was the same with OLGA but
you still find much TAB om the Internet and I believe we will
find all we want in the future also.

I believe when the sites who does supply TAB's have become very
proffesional and the TAB's very proffesional looking MPA have to do something because it is copyright and
there are people who are working and loosing money in that business.
Not only the artists themself. And if the business is up and going strong
there maybe gone be TAB's of high quality.

Of course Steve Vai could make and sell his TAB/score here, that
would be nice. But I think Steve Vai should use his time on
playing and making music and not so much on making perfect TAB books.
For that he could use someone else and thats why we have to pay, and
thats why there have to be some sort of copyright... I believe but I am
not 100% shure

But of course MPA is doing someting very wrong. They makes alot
of potential TAB buyers angry, instead they should have started work
on making a good online service to let us pay and buy proffesional TAB for songs.
That is what I believe many people are missing today.
