Has Steve ever played on stage with Eddie Van halen ?

A Friend of mine says he has seen on TV Eddie Van Halen and Steve Vai on
stage playing the guitar duel from Crossroads, I said Steve and EVH have
never played on stage together, least of all the ending of Crossroads, who
is correct ?

I have only ever seen Steve and Eddie together once, that was backstage at some awards thing in the late 80s, but if they had played together I was sure I would have heard about it !
Anyway, Mikey confirmed that my friend was takling sh*t.

There was a photo of Steve's effects rack in a 1996 or 97 edition of Guitar Shop. In the pic, there was a photo stuck to Steve's rack which sort of looked like Steve on stage with Eddie and Sammy. Anyone have that issue and able to check it out? I remember squinting at it and thinking "Whoa. Steve and Eddie. Cool." Maybe it was Steve with somebody else entirely, or Van Halen with someone else. I dunno. *shrugs sleepily* Mikey, are you aware of this photo and able to shed some light?

Steve played all Eddies chops (during DLR tours) but I doubt Eddie could cover all Steves.

Not that it matters much anyway.

PS So what does Steve sound like, a trombone ?

NO idiot. Steve sounds like a over processed keyboard. at least to me. I dont like it at all. Ya he may be good , but i prefer eddie. And ya eddie could defiantly play vai's stuff.

You can do harmonics and whammy bar tricks on a keyboard can't you ? All those harmonics, bended notes, dive bombs and vibrato Steve does by rotating his fingers while playing, make it sound EXACTLY like someone pressing a white key on an electronic instrument.
