Well... Let's hear some opinions on The Story Of Light cd.

Ok after a good few days of critical listening......

The guy who "mastered" this album screwed up big time. Im hearing distortions/pops/crackles all over the place and its almost on every song. This album was pushed way too hot.....and the funny thing is, its not even 'commercially loud'. Kinda disappointing cause this songs do sound great and they are nice and bright, balanced and crisp.......but these random distortion crackles bug the crap out of me. kinda annoying

I thought it was only me, or my speakers......

well, i kinda like the crackling. like in gravity storm. it sounds like someone crushing a house. i think it adds texture. But if you saw that interview steve did with the masterer, i think he just goes for the expresso

I can understand some digital clipping/crackling purposely put here and there can add some "texture" or "emotion" to a theme or song to purposely make it sound like something is breaking or being crushed.....

but when your trying to listen to a great slow balled such as "Mullach A'tsi"....and those harsh distortions/clipping noises appear here and there.......

This crackling in the beginning does not seem to be his intention. Maybe it is just in this video?
I always use a limiter for too high amplitudes XD

I agree, it most certainly not was his intention. And the distortion/crackling is not just this song.....its on every song on the entire album.

Well, thanks! I expected that the DVD would consist of more examples, how he recorded particular song, studio tour - he only explains about the console.....and so on. Maybe too short for me, but they could've put on much more.

Noooo, the release date for germany changed. Now it´s the 14th September! Why ??
But I´ll buy the digital version tomorrow, I can´t wait anymore. (Of course I will get the cd and dvd too).
The problem is, there is no booklet in the digital download, so I cannot read the story behind the songs until I recieve the cd.
Would anyone scan and upload the cd-booklet?
