I used TRANSPARENT PAINT, or LAQUER, or whaterver you want to call it.
I painted like 5 layers on Steve's autogragh, so it's totally time-proof.

Yeah it's in a CAN, you have to tell the seller if your guitar has a lucid finish or a sanded finish, laquers are in different types...Optiquest wrote:I have an RG1570, which doesnt have a pickguard. Can you give me some details on the stuff you used GuitarStrings? Is it in a can?

You have to pay much attention when you spray the stuff on, keep a certain distance to allow the paint to spread well.

You see it, you touched it whether the finish is sanded or not.Optiquest wrote:How do I tell what type of finish my guitar has?

What if the signature is on a plastic plate like the electronics cover on the back of the guitar. Would clear packing tape be enough? What if Steve signed with a paint pen?
Mine is signed similar, but its on the backplate...what I have done is take the backplate and put it on a plastic wallet...draw round that and cut it out. This way, it looks like there is nothing protecting it but its covered by plastic...it was signed last June and looks just as good now as it did thenchriseldred03 wrote:What if the signature is on a plastic plate like the electronics cover on the back of the guitar. I got a sheet of MYLAR, cut it to size, and applied it. And you don't have to test to see if it will wreck the autograph, unlike ANY sprays and finishes.
Apparently guitars have come in for regular work and there are chips, scrapes, and scratches AROUND the piece of mylar.
I've got Steve Morse's autograph on my Morse guitar and I sure as heck want it to stay there.

Well yeah, I hate having a big autograph in the front of your guitar. Good idea to change pickguardresha wrote:the best way to preserve your auotgraph?
change pickguard and keep it in a safe place
