I know that the Green Meanie Charvel was used for just about all of it. I dont think he was using the Carvin X100B, I have one, and while it does the Flex-Able tone, it doesnt' do a very good Eat Em and Smile tone. When did they hit the market and when did Steve start using them? Which guitars currently have them?

The trick with the DS-1 is setting tone control. Most people I see have the tone between 12oclock and five oclock. Really bright and grainy. It needs to be in the 9-10 oclock position. Its at least usable in that postion. I picked that up from old pics of Satch's pedal in a guitar rag years ago. Als...

Then clearly you don't use half the volume you think you do. Dime out your plexi, they'll cry.

I'm kind of surprised he uses V30's. They can suffer from some pretty nasty cone cry at volume.

Thanks for the comments. I am familiar with recording cabs and what the standard tools are. Steve appeared to be using something out of the ordinary which is why I was curious what they were. Apparently its an X file mystery. Thats cool. I'm sure its out there somewhere.

I'm interested in this too. The dry in your face tone was killer.
