Acrylic Guitar in new DVD
Whats the story on the acrylic guitar Steve opens the DVD with? I am surprised how similar it sounds to the basswood guitars.

Re: "Live In Minneapolis: Where The WIld Things Are" DVD REVIEWS
I haven't gotten to the second disc yet but the video work is light years ahead of Astoria and the one with the orchestra. The sonics are excellent as well. The electronic/overdriven violin didn't do much for me but the more traditional sounding one was an excellent addition. Steves' guitar sound wa...

Re: Steve's Custom Stage Monitors
It's a very clever design. Does this mean that wedges are mono-tone then? I surpose this means that a wedge speaker is not the same freq range as a amp speaker. Which in turn make you think..... Why don't they put amp speakers in wedges for guitar players? Monitors for guitar players. Peavey did at...

Re: Vai Playing PRS
Is it his or was it borrowed for that gig? Damn shame the endorsement deals are so restrictive in that regard. Guitar players like to use different things.Mikey wrote:At the premiere party for "We Will Rock You" in Las Vegas. Can't remember the year, but probably around 2005.

Re: Vai Playing PRS
It was quite funny to read the posts on that board.... "Steve isn't in the 2008 Ibanez catalog! He must have switched..." Geez! 8) It is essentially the PRS forum after all. Its actually kind of refreshing for me to see that.. I have an RG560 for trying to do VAI ism's that I have never gotten comf...

Steve is playing a PRS. Probably just borrowed but still cool.

Re: Steve's micing technique/microphones used
"I don't necessarely try to capture the exact sound coming out of the amp, you know. I use usually three microphones, on one cabinet and the way that they're placed is all properly in phase . And I'll use a 57, you know, 421 and maybe a Beyer 160. And they all have extremely different characters. A...

Re: The new hard tail Jem
I say, if it's a JEM, keep it a JEM. That means make it innovative and different. If it's a hard tail, fine. But at least make some improvements on what's already out there. And, for future reference, Ibanez, DON'T PUT BIG CHEEZY DECALS ON THE BODY OF A GUITAR THAT YOU EXPECT PEOPLE TO TAKE SERIOUS...

Re: New EVH Wolfgang Guitar
I think basically it boils down to, he's finally got what HE wants ... not what Ernie Ball or Peavey wanted. I can't imagine a better artist, one more known for tone chasing, other than SV, to have a signature model. Yet, to my knowledge, no other artist was strong armed into making changes to his ...

Re: Do you shield your guitar?
I always shield my guitars. Its about an hour long process, but its well worth it. If you have an ibanez or strat, or anything with a pickgaurd try taking the pickgaurd off, along with all the electronics. Then unroll enough tin foil to cover your pickgaurd. Now, spray the length of tin foil with s...
