Ive tried to cover my legacy with blankets to help reduce volume when recording......but it sounded like crap to me. It almost sounded like useing that direct output (found on the back of the legacy) with just to my ears.........sounded fake and lifeless! I personaly dont like to cover the amp.....I...

Listen to Vai's "mellisas garden" song with headphones............youll notice he has two different delay times per side. (like 300ms panned left with a few repeats------and 500 ms panned right with only a single repeat).

Listening to his stuff on headphones is cool!................

OMG! Satchs newest cd is rippin in the dolby digital 5.1 surround! I wish Vai would do the same for his albums!

When the legacy first came out, it was equipt with "greenback" speakers. Now it has "vintage 30" in it. When Vai did the Ultra Zone cd, he used the legacy, but with what speakers? also in the "legacy demo" download from the carvin site, was that with the greenbacks?

The legacy tone controls are VERY sensitive.........keep that in mind. Im sure you can get a great scooped mids tone from it. There is a HUGE range in frequency of the controls, you can dial in almost any tone from any guitarist. keep in mind what pickups your using too.....that helps get what tone ...

( AH HEM!) dont forget the Carvin Legacy.................very versitile.....and after all, this is a steve vai message board.....so ya must dig his style and tone.

im using the 'evo' in the bridge, and a 'fred' in the neck. Most manufacturers suggest putting them about 2 millimeters away when the highest fret is pressed. but what concerns me is that the fact that 'evos' are loud and powerfull, so i just wanted a tally of what everyone elses are set at to get a...

approx. how high up (in millimeters) do you set yours? (distance from bottom of string to top of pickup, while pressing down at the 24th fret)

same here, I set my levels so low....its barely audible. just enough to give it some space and dimention like an echo of a large room.
