i try not to use any distortion on the pedal......the more you add, the more "flabby" and "mushy" it can get.......... so if you boost the level button, it will add a clean boost of a signal to drive the amp harder, without adding any nasty coloring artifacts that the "distortion knob" will add. I o...

i use the Ds-1 Ultra from keeley......and it works well in front of the lead channel of the legacy head. i set mine at...... "Ultra mode" toggle down (ON) tone- 11 oclock level -ALL THE WAY UP Dist- NONE (all the way down) in Ultra mode, it acts more of an OD pedal , than a distortion pedal. To hear...

dark.....sort of...........i would say it has a "smoother" sounding distortion. Not as much of a "chain saw buzz" sounding distortion as you would associate with most hi-gain amps.........this amp has a more smoother tone.

I had awesome seats! I got to sit at a table "dead center" of the first table rows, where you can sit and enjoy a nice dinner before the show. It was a perfect seat, for a perfect show! and boy was i pounding the wine down that night! Whispering a Prayer was the highlight.......always makes my eyes ...

the best place for tubes is www.dougstubes.com thats doug preston, he is "the tube man". a great guy. the best thing to do is email him, or call him (his number is listed on his website) and tell him your amp you have, and tell him what tone you are trying to get out of the amp (brighter, darker, mo...

i noticed a difference right away. the tone got brighter, and more "crunchy" and bigger/aggressive. with the right tubes, you can alter the tone of the amp, but the main "legacy characteristic" will always be in there..........the Legacy's signature sound can never be taken out of the amp. but the l...

the best power tubes ive had in my Legacy were the Ruby el34B-STR

sounds BIG, crunchy, bright.....and lots of low end boom. Kinda sounds like a 6L6 tube, with el34 type "bark" and mids.........

very nice tube.

yeah..........i own the DS-1 UlTRA...........and it rocks! when you flip the switch to "ultra" mode, it acts more of a older "tube screamer/OD", that a distortion pedal.

i still wish steve would have (or maybe in the future) played guitar on the Frangelica II song............

just hearing those lines and melodies, and the harmonizing of the other instruments........that would make one awesome guitar instrumental song......

i have mixed feelings about this new double CD album............. one thing that i really didnt care for was the fact that the first CD, was nothing more than what we all heard before, and a couple years ago on the Vai.com site, he posted a link to a internet station for us to hear it (BB england ra...
