Now that Mick Thomson has signed for Ibanez...
...will he make a commercially available signature guitar with them? I don't really want this to turn into a thread about whether or not he is any good (I like his stuff personally, including his solos on the new album for the purpose they're meant to serve - hey I'm not supposed to be talking about...

You convinced me! :D The main thing I find to be a stumbling block is hard drive space. I've read I should have two drives at least, one of around 40GB for software and one of around 160GB for audio files, so I should get a PC with ATA drives, whatever that means. I see computers with good processin...

Cheers Jamie, I'm not sure if I'm in a position to buy something now, I mean I have the money but I'm not sure if I'll put it there or get an Ibanez JEM and work on my technique and theory more first before I get a PC or Mac. I think what I might do in fact is just wait until what's really good now ...

Hi, I'm kind of in the same position as jamtheguitarman, but I think I kind of have an idea about what I'd want and just don't know how to make it less expensive! Basically I'm a guitar player, so from what I've read I think I would want the following: 1. A PC (or Mac, but I've heard PC recording wo...

If Eddie hadn't been around first, who would have been first to the punch is a hard question. Would it have been Vai and would Vai have been the same kind of guitarist? Hard to say really - not even Steve would know probably as he maybe couldn't say how much of an influence Eddie was on the people w...

Alternate picking/elbow concerns
Hi, I have a question for anyone with reasonably lengthy experience of using alternate picking. This could be a long post but please bear with me as I could really use some help and advice. I've noticed something in my right elbow and wanted some advice about my use of the technique. I noticed when ...

Hi, I asked Steve about films when I met him. He said he had just finished shooting for a film, this must have been it - I think Aurora Borealis was the name he mentioned. Anyway, he said that he just has a small part in it, playing 'Little Alligator' in the film. He said he wouldn't normally do it ...

Fair point, but I voted for Satch. Hendrix was important and a huge influence on Satriani and Vai, while Vai's live show showcases impressive musicianship all round more than Satch's does where it's mostly focused on him. Don't get me wrong, I love Vai and I think he perhaps shows more complexity in...

Hey there, How much are the JEM and JS guitars if I may ask? There's no way I can afford one right now (actually, I mean that in terms of time rather than just money for the next couple of months at least!), but if I were to get a JEM7VWH (that seems to be the one I'd prefer at the moment) or a JS (...

Thanks Matt for your kind words. You don't oe me an apology though, as you did nothing wrong. I'm glad your photo has come out well, since you had to explain to me about three times how to press one button! I received your private message as well and am definitely interested, so I expect I wil...

To Skyscraper, who wrote "However, after Joe and Steve came out to talk to those with Aftershow passes, loads of people came in through the fire exit who had obviously just barged in past the apathetic security workers. " I was one of the people who, as you put it, barged in. Let me explain. I went...

Firstly, I have to agree with those who have criticised the more narrow-minded members of the audience who could not manage to behave themselves during Robert Fripp's set. I admit that his music isn't the sort to which I would normally listen (then again, I haven't really ever heard anything like it...

I'm no expert on this, but as Mikey has said before that Whitesnake is just a vehicle for David Coverdale, maybe that's how Steve thinks of it as well, which would explain why he would stress being well treated 'by David' if it was Coverdale's band primarily where he was calling the shots. I'm proba...

Thanks for that Mikey. I didn't know that they had known each other for years. Usually there's some sort of mutual contact involved, but I can't think how Steve would have got to know Lemmy. Oh well, you learn something every day I suppose! I look forward hopefully to hearing it anyway as a collabor...
