Re: Built an isobox, exceeded ALL expectations. (+pics, sound
looks good. I recently built something a bit different but has noise suppression as one of its goals. It's not as serious as yours as far as isolation goes, but it helps tame my 3w amp for silent late night recording. http://diy-fever.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/cab_in.jpg Some say that...

Re: What amps does everyone have?
dual rec is actually a closer knockoff of SLO than 5150 (they both are, but recto is closer). Have a bunch amps, all home-made, but this is what I currently use: * mark IIc+ preamp lead channel clone (more info http://diy-fever.com/amps/mesa-mark-iic-preamp/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return f...

Re: What Pickups have you got in your guitar?
Fred + Paf Pro in my homebrew guitar: awesome, awesome combination. Good balance of power vs clarity, Paf on sterioids tone, effortless harmonics, etc. http://diy-fever.com/wordpress/wp-content/gallery/bancika_guitar_mk1/done_1.jpg Crunch Lab + Evo single + Liquifire in the other RG2550: great combo...

Re: Tubes question and replacements.
If the amp is fixed biased (voltage running through the powertubes) how do you mean "voltage running through power tubes"? pulled from eurotubes.com you don't have to pull the whole page, it's just that voltage is running through power tubes anyways, being fixed bias doesn't have anything to do wit...

Re: Strat Tremolo
although wilkinson and similar upgrade strat-like tremolos work very good and stay in tune decently I find them very different than floyds. It's just not the same can-do-anything feeling...maybe you'll like them though, especially if you're not used to a floyd, it's definitely an improvement over st...

I tried swapping tubes in a few amps I built myself: SLO with 5w output section AX84 Firefly Fender Princeton clone Kalamazoo model 1 Hotbox tube preamp in all of them you can hear the difference between different tubes. I don't swap power tubes too much because I don't have many of them, but I trie...

Maybe you didn't look close enough. I'm not talking spiral twisted, but twisted maybe for ~1mm, enough to force you to use much higher action, cause string buzz and whatnot. My father is a luthier and I've seen many cases, all were strats. It's something like headstock crack on les pauls :) Edit: my...

why it will twist or why it can be fixed? I'll answer both: for cheap guitars they don't really pick greatest pieces of wood, grain is not necessarily parallel, can have knots or other imperfections, is not dried enough (cause they have to make a gazillion of guitars). If fingerboard is maple there ...

No, I am NOT getting another RG. Period. Never Again. all I wanted to know is that if any Squires are good. I see one person has helped.... easy man...in that case, it sucks big time and can never replace JEM :) As I said before, you can get it to be very decent with another 200$ invested in it, bu...

I recommend getting a fixed bridge RG. With any guitar in that price range tremolo will be useless. It will be much less work to get it in the ballpark. I have a squier strat and it took a lot of work to get it to be good. See this link http://storm-software.co.yu/diy/index.php?project=squier it exp...
